He likes a thrill

There is yet, another check on Luke's list of "Things to Do Before I Die". For his birthday I somewhat surprised Luke and set up a bungee jump in Idaho with friends and family.

My dream would have been to pack his bags and say something casual like, "Let go grab some lunch" and drive toward I-15 and say something like, "Lets go somewhere we've never gone, Matt told me about a great Indian place in the City" and drive like were going to SLC. Once we make it to SLC, I would continue driving and say something clever like, "Nah, lets be spontaneous lets go somewhere for the weekend". Soon it would be evident that we were actually going somewhere and I had it all planned out. We would show up at the campsite and all the friends would be there to greet us and cheer as we pulled up and Luke would throw his arms around me and say "Wow! This is the best birthday ever"!

About a week before this plan was put into full action. Luke and I had a lengthy discussion on how he doesn't like surprises, and in fact, informed me that most guys hate being surprised and that those things are all of the woman. So the surprise was a bust and I informed him that in about a week I had a bungee jump planned for his birthday. From my point of view, not as exciting.

Friday we set out for the exciting sites of I-DA-HO!! We stopped along the way at Shoshone Falls, which was amazing!!! Then to our lovely campsite held along the historic Oregon Trail in Glen's Ferry. On Saturday morning we ate at the local diner a hearty breakfast of hubcap sized hot cakes, bacon, eggs, hash browns, English muffins, and orange juice. We then drove to the bridge where the deed was going to be done. Glen's Ferry Bridge, about 165 ft above the Snake River. Miles was our gracious expert who helped everyone fit into their harnesses and then gave a brief instructional and then everyone, except me, climbed up underneath the bridge onto the catwalk. After about an hour of setting up the bungee they were set. I was stationed below with Kyah with a video camera and my SLR to capture the events. Everyone jumped gracefully and with no fear, I was very impressed. They enjoyed themselves so much, that almost everyone jumped twice.

It was crazy to see them all dangling their legs over this skinny catwalk 165 ft above me.




Although I didn't get a picture, Luke's jump was a graceful swan dive.
